Mery Christmas from the Sundberg's
2004 was another exciting year of transition and exploration. Kristin's now an office manager for an Ames podiatrist.
Tim is enjoying life as a graphics artist for an Ames printing company.
Kari has graduated from Valpo and will be moving to Norflok, VA. where finace' Eric Farley is stationed as a Navy
construction engineer. Stay tuned for the wedding plans. Lora has graduated from ISU and will be working in Chicago
for an architectural firm's magazine. Molly spent the spring semester in South Carolina and the fall semester at ISU
pursing that biology related profession. Deb is still saving the world from dental caries and Paul is still doing his
thing with the National Pork Board. We expect 2004 for us is going to be another year of great adventure. We all
hope tha you are well and 2005 will be a wonderful year for you. May God fill your Christmas season with love and
peace.

Hi and Happy Holidays to everyone,
All well here. Haven't made that million..but looks
like I never will so have decided to abandon the idea.
How about all of you? Seriously, still practicing,
mostly alone. Family is all well. Oldest is a jr at
KSU, youngest is graduating from HS this spring and
plans to go to U of NE in the fall. Both still
wrestling. Not sure what we will do with ourselves
when that is all over.
Hope you all had many warm times with family and
friends over the holidays and enjoy a great 2005.
Jeri Sill Welchert.
Happy New Year!
As usuaul I am a little late in getting a holiday note typed up. All is well at the Johnson household and I hope
all is well with everyone of you.
2004 was another busy year for us. The highlight was we had our second child, Paul, get married in August. Paul
married his college sweetheart in Silver Bay, MN on August 14. We had a grand time and really enjoyed the north shore
of Lake Superior. Paul and his wife Libby live in Hopkins,MN (suburb of Minneapolis) and he works for a medical supply
company called McKesson. Our oldest daughter, Emily and her husband Joe currently are in Philadelphia, where she works
in promotions for General Mills and Joe is a high school lieterature teacher. General Mills is planning to transfer them
back to the Twin Cities this summer. Mark, child number 3, is a sophomore at Marquette and Beth, the baby, is a senior in
high school and contemplating Marquette or St. Benedict's in Minnesota as her top 2 college choices.
Molly and I continue to slave away to pay for all the college and wedding bills. (We found kids get really expensive
just before they head out the door for the last time.) Molly is still doing all the office nursing for an orthopod in
Oshkosh that does a ton of hip and knee replacements as his ticket to wealth and fame. Our mixed practice continues to
be more and more small animal. That has been ok with me and my partner as we get older plus we realize what you small
animal people have known for a couple of decades, that you can make alot more income with Fluffy the canine than you
can with Bossie the bovine.
In 2004 I finished my 4 year term on the Wisconsin VMA executive board, which I enjoyed very much. It was great to
meet alot of colleagues from around the state. At the state convention in Madison in October it was great to run into
several classmates and we talked up getting together as a class at possibly the North American Vet Conference in
Orlando in 2006. Sounds good to me and hopefully with alot of advance notice we can get a good turn out.
I wish all of you the best for 2005!
Phil Johnson
As usual I am late getting a letter sent. All is well in Wilton Iowa. My practice continues to be too busy; but that
is better than the alternative.
The family is doing great. We were supposed to go skiing today but everyone backed out on me because it was
minus 7 when we got up this AM. It will make for a more relaxing day this way. My oldest son “Ryan” is a sophomore and
keeps busy trying to juggle basketball, tae kwon do, girls and classwork. My youngest son “Tyler” plays basketball,
tae kwon do and video games. If I had a nickel for every hour he spends on video games I could retire early. They just
received their temporary black belts a week ago and now will test for 1st degree black belt in about 6 months.
I continue to enjoy work and keep finding new things to learn. I try to get out west skiing twice a year,
go to western states vet mting- usually see Clay Johnson when there – participate in tae kwon do with the boys, and
spend the rest of the time trying to stay out of trouble.
Hope everyone has a nice Christmas and a Happy New Year
Wayne Budding
Well Wayne, don't feel bad about being late, I am writing this after i have added yours to the site.
BECAUSE NOTHING EVER SEEMS TO CHANGE. I am still at the same place since 1983, Jill is at the same place she has worked
since 1982.
Charlie will graduate from UW-Madison this year and will be going to China for a 2 month externship. Ashly is in he
second yer of college in Milwaukee and
loves it. Alex will graduate from high school this summer and will go to the university on Minnesota next year, pursuing
a dental degree.
I am still doing my bear research, and have branched out a bit, doing a project on fishers, otters and bobcats. But all
those
are from carcasses so no work with live critters in that branch. I will be going to Glacier National Park to help with
and
learn about a wolverine study. Hope to get my hands on one of those beasties while there.
Hope you all have a good Christmas and Happy New Year.

Not much new here. We are doing a lot more horse work than anything else now so am going to the AAEP in Denver next week. Still have 2 grandkids and Muriel and I are still working at the same jobs. Looking forward to reading the Christimas letters. Looked for Craig Van Balen at the AAEP last year but didn't see him there. Hope to run into him this year. Dan McDermott
I am currently at the University of Illinois Vet School and just started a new job last week. I moved from working
on a Salmonella research project to working in the diagnostic lab as a microbiologist. I will be working with cases
coming through the clinics and necropsy here at the college as well as cases sent from veterinarians across the state.
My new job will offer quite a bit more diversity than the research project and I am looking forward to that!
My kids are growing up! My oldest son Eric (14) is a freshman in high school this year. He has discovered the joys of
football and can't wait until next season. He still plays hockey (as a goale), is in the band at school and is active
in scouts.
My younger son Mitchell (10) is a fifth grader. He is following in his brother's footsteps and is also a hockey goalie,
plays a coronet in band, and is in his last year of cub scouts.
Duane continues as an engineer at Caterpillar designing the big trucks. We took a vacation to northern Wisconsin
last summer and had fun fishing and hiking.
Have a great Christmas!

Hello class of 81,
Lots new here in Cleveland, you should come and visit. We have actually moved into our new hospital. No it's not done yet,
but we are working around the mess. They are in the process of gutting the old building so it can be torn down. Lots of
finishing touches need to be completed in the new building, like a front door! (we currently have a temporary side door,
which will become a window when we're done.). Our first day (last Monday) we had no phones, no computers, no water to some
areas, it was interesting. We still can't print any labels. BUT the building is beautiful and huge! We sometimes still
ask someone to move out of the way just for old time's sake. I feel like I'm doing relief work, except I know the whole
staff.
Cody is in 10th grade, his second year of high school. He is doing wonderfully behaviorally, but his class work still
needs work. He is now taller then his Dad (his feet have been bigger for a year). And in spite of then medication he's
on, he has really slimmed down. He want's to go to college, but refuses to do homework, boy is he in for a rude
awakening!!!! He wants to be a computer programmer, they have a good technical program in this area that he can start
next year.
Jesse is in 7th grade, and is as bright as ever. If possible tho she is more scattered and has begun to behave in some
ways like a teenager. I see lots of arguments in our futures! She continues to play the flute and is still in a flute
choir. Shae is also in a group called Power of the Pen. She wants to be a part-time Veterinarian and a full time actress,
boy reality is going to be harsh for both my kids! She has been involved this year in a Broadway Review, and will do this
again next semester.
I plan to do an Alaskan cruise for my 50th with my sister and a good friend, while the kids are with their Dad this summer.
I'll let you know if it actually comes to pass. I did go on a Mexican cruise with my entire family (not my parents as
my dad doesn't travel any more), my Aunt and Uncle footed the whole bill for her 80th birthday. It was an amazing
experience to see all my cousins again, and meet my nieces (cousins once removed?) as adults. We all got along and a
great time together. I went to AVMA in Philidelphia, and oddly enough got to see one of my friends from California who
was visiting her mother there.
Look forward to reading all your letters.
